Why was the IPPRO course launched by FICCI?

 

Launched in 2011, FICCI IPPRO course is aimed at simplifying the knowledge of IPR laws among for the Indian stakeholders. It was started considering the growing importance of IPRs for businesses and stakeholders. The purpose of this course is to sensitize the students and professionals about the crucial role that IP plays in the country’s economy. Over the last decade, the number of IP registrations in India is increased significantly which has magnified the demand of skilled IP professionals in India.

Just the recent official data shows that there has been a 294% increase in the number of patents granted, 352% increase in trademarks registered and 256% increase in copyrights registered in India in 2019-2020 compared to 2015-2016.

The IPR Online Course has been introduced with the objective to provide a platform for candidates to gain practical knowledge about Intellectual Property Rights and their importance for innovation and growth of businesses and the economy.
 

How can I register for the course?

To register, you can visit https://www.ficciipcourse.in/ippro/ and click the “Register Now” button and fill out the online Registration Form available on the website. You will then be redirected to an online payment gateway where you can complete the payment. After payment, you will receive a confirmation email once the registration process is complete. 

What is the duration and fee of the course?

 

It is a 2-month course. The fee for students is Rs 5500 and the fee for working professionals is Rs 7500. The fee is inclusive of GST, so you do not pay taxes separately.

Is this an online or offline course?

 

This course is completely online, and you can access the same at your own pace and comfort.  We keep on holding offline workshops at our office in New Delhi where we invite our students to attend. A prior communication regarding workshops shall be communicated to you as and when the programs are organized.

Will there be live lectures?

 

There will be live lectures on weekends where you can interact with the speakers and can have your queries and doubts addressed by them. These lectures will also be available for you to download. In addition, we also provide recorded lectures on different topics essential to understanding the subject.

Who takes the lectures?

 

Webinars and online lectures will be delivered by senior industry experts, IP professionals and academicians from India's premier institutes.

Can I access the course material after completion of my certification?

 

Yes, you get lifetime access to the entire course material.

Is the fee refundable?

 

No, the fee is non-refundable. We would suggest you go through the structure and modules of the course thoroughly before enrolling yourself so you can make the right decision.

Can I make the payment in instalments?

 

No, the fee will be a one-time payment and is inclusive of taxes

What are the passing marks?

 

The passing percentage is 50%.

How is the exam conducted?

 

The exam is conducted in two parts. The first part is MCQ which is 80 marks, and the second part is Assignment which contains 20 marks.

There are 3 dates provided to appear for MCQs. A candidate can appear for exam on any one of the 3 dates between 11 AM to 11 PM. The MCQ Exam is of 90 minutes.

The Assignment consists of practical & case-based questions built to test the capability of the candidate to solve real life situations. A candidate is provided one week to answer the questions and submit the assignment.

What is the eligibility criteria for the course?

 

There is no bar on who can or cannot do this course. Anyone willing to explore the area of IP and understand its advantages for their careers or business can enroll.

Will this course be useful for me if I’m not from a law background?

 

IPR is a segment of law that cuts across all industry sectors. No sector is untouched by IPR. IP as a tool is one of the strongest assets of a business or individual creator. Having knowledge of how the IPR regime works in the country will greatly benefit you if you are running a business or building a brand or your invention.

Having adequate IPR knowledge is crucial even if you are not a lawyer or from a law background. This course is designed keeping in mind both lawyers and people from non-legal background to help increase understand different IP concepts and increase the knowledge and understanding of the subject. What will happen if do not pass the exam or fail to appear?

 

In case you are not able to pass the exam, or you fail to appear on your first attempt, you will get another chance to appear for the exam with the upcoming batch after payment of a re-examination fees of INR 1500. If you fail to clear the exam on the second attempt as well, you will have to register as a fresh participant by paying the entire fee.
